Frequently Asked
Questions
How did this project come about?
I have always been an avid playing card collector.
When I was sorting my cards recently, I realized that I have very
few decks from specific states. I thought it would be an interesting
challenge to try to collect a deck from each state in the country.
What should the decks look like?
I would like the cards to be cheesy and touristy
and have the name of the state on them.
What do you mean by "two degrees of separation"?
I would like for the decks to be sent by either (a) people I know
or (b) people who know them. My friend Bob can purchase a qualifying
deck. Bob's cousin that I haven't met can purchase a deck. But,
Bob's cousin's co-worker doesn't qualify, because now there are
three degrees of separation.
Where can I find playing cards with my state
on them?
Some common places to look are airports, souvenir shops, tourist
attractions, drug stores and grocery stores in touristy areas, state
welcome centers, and game stores.
When will you start the 'Playing Cards of the World' project?
As soon as I have all 50 US states, I'll move on to the world!
Has anyone told you that you're
a bit of a freak?
Nope. Never. ;)
